It’s no secret, I love this girl.

Sister = all time favorite subject. These images were taken on a recent getaway to Arizona to spend time with the familia. So much love, so little time.

Achievements: because I’m awesome.

Turns out that I’ve already done a few things on my goal list for 2012. So I guess I should replace them with loftier goals, eh?

What did I manage to eek out of myself in 2011?

1. Go on a bike ride just for fun, not for commuting.

Spent an afternoon on one of the many Minnesota bike trails in the Twin Cities. I love MN in the summertime!

9. Save for that 5D/7D I’ve been dreaming about.

In the last few days of 2011 I found a very slightly used 7D at Precision Camera here in Austin. A great deal and it came in the original box. SO HAPPY.

10. Make a new (Austin) friend.

She sews, likes good food & music, name has an E, L + A, and is Jewish. Oh, she also wants to live in a pile of kittens! It’s like I’m talking about myself, but magically, I’m talking about my friend Elona.

2011 wasn’t as productive as I might have hoped, but that’s okay because I am going to take a huge bite out of 2012. And to kick it all off here is my 27 in 2012 page! I really encourage all of you to take the time to make a list of some goals you’d like to achieve this year (and share them with me)! Let’s be the best versions of ourselves, this year and every year.

Goodbye 2011, Hello 27 in 2012!

It’s the Eve of 2012 and I am fucking excited.

Today while driving around town I started to reflect on my 27 before 27 list, thinking about how it shouldn’t be a before 27 list, but more of a during 2012 list. I knew that I would have goals to add and maybe even a few things to change, so I re-read the list and was surprised to discover that I had a couple of goals to check off! More about that later…

For now, here is a revised 2012 goals list.

1. Go on a bike ride just for fun, not for commuting.

2. Yoga 2-3 times weekly.

3. Road trip/vacation with my sister.

4. Enroll at ACC for photography or graphic design.

5. Solo journey abroad – catapult into self discovery and identity shaping.

6. Get rid of enough stuff that I don’t need a storage unit.

7. Have a yard sale.

8. Take 41 pictures a day, 15k for the year.

9. Save for that 5D/7D I’ve been dreaming about.

10. Make a new friend. Make a new (Austin) friend.

11. Learn a new art medium or craft.

12. Do one thing that scares the bejeezus out of me.

13. Visit Yosemite National Park.

14. Cook a meal for Aunt Linda.

15. New England in the winter.

16. Find a school/program that excites me.

17. Take a day trip to a place I’ve never been.

18. Write a letter/postcard every week.

19. Make a photo album with the pictures from #8

20. Create a creative space that inspires me to be artistically productive.

21. Take a cooking class.

22. Build my business into something more than a hobby.

23. Volunteer at Thundering Paws.

24. Visit Kryss in Oregon.

25. Decorate my house!

26. Be more outgoing.

27. Sew the perfect denim a-line skirt.

2012: watch out. Your ass is mine.

xoxo

Minnehaha Falls = Home

Did you know that I’m a fan of ridiculous made up equations like the one in this post title. It’s true. I didn’t realize it myself until recently and now I catch myself making them up all the time. Whatevs. I enjoy it, that’s what matters, folks.

Here are some photos from a recent day at Minnehaha Falls. This park is one of my favorite places in Minneapolis. Pretty sure the first time I went to the Falls was for a friends 18th birthday – a teen-angst poetry burning party. It certainly wasn’t the last. During college I would take my camera and a notebook, just sit by the creek all day. I guess you could say it’s my happy place.

Turns out there is a bike trail that begins at the Falls and takes you for a ride along the Mississippi River. Say what?! You just took one of my favorite places and added a bike trail?! Oh lordy lord. Minnehaha Falls + bike trails = heaven. (admit it, you knew that was coming.) Guess I can scratch #1, go on a bike ride just for fun, not for commuting, off my 27 before 27! Though, truthfully, I plan on making tiny hash marks next to it so I can do this many times over before 27.

27 before 27. Otherwise known as a quarter-life crisis.

Disclaimer: I am not the first to make one of these lists. Yeah, I know, shocking. In fact, I straight up thieved borrowed the idea from a blog that I have not been able to find again. (Hey, guess what, one of my favorite bloggers, Elsie, made one of these lists for her 27th year! Saweet!) I’m also pretty sure that it’s normally a 30 before 30 list, to be completed at a leisurely pace in your 20′s before the inevitable three-oh. But guess what: this life isn’t going to jump start itself. So, I’m embarking on a 27 before 27, to be completed in the next eight months before my 27th naming day. (If you can name that reference I will personally give you a cookie.)

You can always find my list here with links to their respective posts as I complete the goals set out before me. But to kick it off I’m going to post the list below. Keep in mind that there is no particular order to how I must do these things.

1. Go on a bike ride just for fun, not for commuting.

2. Yoga 2-3 times weekly.

3. Road trip/vacation with my sister.

4. Take a photography class.

5. Solo journey abroad – catapult into self discovery and identity shaping.

6. Language immersion course? Yes.

7. Get rid of half my clothes.

8. Take at least 5 pictures everyday, even if it’s on my iPhone.

9. Save for that 5D/7D that I’ve been dreaming about.

10. Make a new friend.

In case you’re wondering why I can’t count, I am leaving the last eight spaces open for new ideas as they come. And yes, you can call it laziness.
